About
THE NEW Body Community Choreography Collective Performance Project Movement
Nya Rörelsen – Koreografer i Skåne (previously Rörelsen) is a dance artist-led organisation consisting of Majula Drammeh, Khamlane Halsackda, Nidia Martínez Barbieri, Daniel Jeremiah Persson & Rumiko Otsuka, working in the areas of choreography, theatre, performance, community, and education, which since 2005 acts as a platform and greenhouse for diversity and artistic prosperity on the cultural map of southern Sweden. Since its founding it has been a consistent voice establishing multiple collaborations and opportunities for southern Swedish independent professionals in the dancefield. In the past many dance artists embarking or transitioning to their creative and production focussed careers passed through Nya Rörelsen e.g Kroppsklubben, Maria Naidu (a founding member), Memory Wax, and AdeY to then go on to further establish their own platforms.
The core body of Nya Rörelsen members annually facilitate and conduct independent as well as joint artistic projects under the same umbrella, presented nationally and internationally. As part of the collective, each member always works with the support of the other members, leaning on the diverse experiences and perspectives of colleagues, through artistic consultancy and administrative help. The group activates 3-5 financed productions every year and runs workshops/dance activities for professional dance artists and dance interested individuals. This makes Nya Rörelsen one of the most active organisations in the region of Skåne that enables all-year-round activities.
Nya Rörelsen strives to support the individual and the collective artist, and this is done through so called ‘Common Projects’ where we collaborate as a team, and ‘Individual Projects’ are individually focussed through the artistic voice and idea/vision of each company member..
